Mary studied painting at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in the early seventies. She left after two years to study with classical painter Eugene Tonoff in Providence RI. During her time in Providence, she joined Seed Idea Advertising Agency, focusing on product and fashion illustration. In 1976, she launched her career as a freelance illustrator working primarily in book publishing and giftware design. Several of her giftware lines sold as collectibles nationally and internationally.
Now Mary focuses her art on nature-themed oil painting and portraiture. "In my landscape work I aim to create art to help people connect with the serenity that is inherent in nature and to bring about a sense of peace in their lives. In my portrait work I create an image of a loved one that can be enjoyed for a lifetime and become a family heirloom."
